Event Details
 

1) Your objective is to design a robot that picks a cylindrical object (here an empty plastic can weighing abt 55 gms. ) from designated areas (marked spots on the floor) and places it at the designated area (on the marked spots on the board).

2) Maximum of 4 persons are allowed per team.

3) The robot should fit in a cuboid of 800 x 300 x 800 mm [L x B x H] in fully assembled state

Rules:

  • Your objective is to design a robot that picks a cylindrical object (here an empty plastic can) from designated areas (marked spots on the floor) and places it at the designated area (on the marked spots on the board).

  • Maximum of 4 persons are allowed per team.

  • The robot should fit in a cuboid of 800 x 300 x 800 mm [L x B x H] in fully assembled state.

  • There is no restriction on the method employed for picking up the object. A hook has also been provided to facilitate the picking.

  • Bring your own converter and extension cord. None will be provided by collge.

  • The converter cannot be moved from a spot. The wire should be long enough to do so.

  • You have 4 minutes to build the towers at the designated point from the cans provided.

  • There are negative points for touching the board, destroying the object, placing the object wrongly (negative criterion will be declared on the spot).

  • There will also be negative points for any part of robot touching the object, except for the gripper/the holding arm.

  • The team will be disqualified if it repeats any negative criterion more than twice.

  • There are 3 criteria for judging:-

1. Points scored.

i. For one object placed on the designated spot, you score 10 points.

ii. For another object placed on top of it, you get 20 points for the object and total 30 points for tower created.

iii. For third object, 40 points are scored for the object and 70 points for tower.

iv. From 4th object onwards you enter bonus zone where you get 80, 160, 320 etc. points for 4th, 5th, 6th etc objects placed.

2. Time taken (20 points will be added for every 15secs time saved).

3. Design of the robot (The marks for design are sole discretion of judges).

  • Points scored make up 75% of your marks and points given by judges make up 25% of your marks.

  • On the spot registrations is available 1 hr prior to start of the event (only 10 entries permitted on the spot).

  • Points will be given only when object is placed properly i.e. the gripper/holder leaves the object and tower is stable.

  • If a tower falls, you cannot build on that spot again and the points scored up to that object will be considered.

  • In case of a tie, the robots will compete in a sudden death round, the rules of which will be given on the spot.

  • There will be only ONE attempt allowed.

  • In case of trouble in a robot, team will be given 2minutes once to repair the robot.

  • In case you are late in arrival, you will be disqualified

  • Decision of judges/guests will be final and binding in every respect and no queries and disputes in this regard will be entertained during or after the event.

  • You will be allowed to practice a day before the event, the time of which will be e-mailed later.
